Workplace or Employment Mediation?
Two terms are regularly used when referring to workplace related mediation services. Workplace mediation refers to a case where at the time of commencement of the mediation, there is an ongoing working relationship between the parties. Employment mediation refers to a case where at the commencement of the mediation, the employment relationship has ceased to exist. Examples might be where an employee has resigned or been dismissed and a tribunal hearing has been scheduled. It is also possible for a mediation to begin as a workplace case, but to end with terms in line with employment mediation.
